Les partisans d'Obama diffusent eux aussi des publicités sensibilisant les Américains au projet de réforme de l'assurance santé, pour faire face aux nombreuses critiques des Républicains, comme celle-ci ou celle-là.

On assiste même au nouveau retour (après un premier retour visiblement pas assez tonitruant il y a quelques mois) du populaire couple "Harry and Louise", qui s'opposaient à la réforme de la santé d'Hillary Clinton dans les années 90, et qui sont désormais favorables aux visées démocrates....

La républicain Chip Saltsman, ancien directeur de campagne de Mike Huckabee, voulait en faire un tube pour Noël 2008. Mais la carte postale musicale du G.O.P. passe mal dans les rangs démocrates. Il faut dire que la chanson "Barack, The Magic Negro" n'a rien d'un Christmas carol.

Le titre s'inspire d'un éditorial du L.A.Time signé par David Ehrenstein en mars 2007. Le journaliste, qui soutenait à l'époque que voter Obama était un moyen pour l'électorat blanc de se donner bonne conscience, réagit cette semaine à cette polémique sur son blog.

La chanson avait été diffusée dès 2007 dans le show radiophonique de l'animateur conservateur Rush Limbaugh.

Chip Saltsman, pensant se faire une bonne publicité auprès de son électorat, a envoyé un CD de 41 titres parodiques sur l'actualité politique du moment. Outre "Barack The Magic Negro", on peut aussi trouver sur le disque "Lover Client 69", une référence directe aux ennuis extra-conjugaux d'Eliot Spitzer.
