Après avoir été démocrate, puis républicain pour conquérir la maire de New York, Michael Bloomberg a fait en 2007 le choix de l'indépendance. Bien qu'il croit en cette démarche, le politicien milliardaire ne sera pas candidat à la présidence des Etats-Unis cette année. Il l'annonce officiellement au
New York Times ce jeudi:
« I believe that an independent approach to these issues is essential to governing our nation — and that an independent can win the presidency. I listened carefully to those who encouraged me to run, but I am not — and will not be — a candidate for president. »
